Thriving Together: George Mason University as a Model Well-Being University

George Mason University has taken the lead of becoming a well-being university. Mason defines well-being as building a life of vitality, purpose, and resilience. Through this initiative, students, staff, faculty, and alumni will be satisfied with their lives and regularly experience curiosity, hope, meaning, and joy.

A well-being university intentionally cultivates the knowledge and skills needed to thrive together. Students who thrive grow and develop through their time at Mason to realize their maximum potential. Mason is committed to educational, co-curricular, and professional development experiences to provide all community members the opportunity to flourish.

Mason Reads is just one part of this university-wide initiative. Incoming freshmen in 2014 will be have the opportunity throughout their time at Mason to increase personal and community well-being. The Center for the Advancement of Well-being provides opportunities throughout the year to promote the science and practice of well-being.
